Your presentation examines a 16Mp sensor compatible with 1 inch optical format, how will this help the industry?
These high resolution formats are offered within an industry first, 1 inch optical format, which can be interfaced with a compact C Mount lens, making them ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.
The ability to reuse standard optics and camera platform while offering a compact camera with an extended number of pixels are invaluable arguments for any industrial camera maker. Indeed, it enables to offer better products at a lower price.
Your presentation will cover sensor architecture and features, why is important to cover these elements?
This e2v sensor deliver Quantum Efficiency of more than 65%, a full well capacity of over 7ke- and a temporal noise below 5e-, with the possibility through a new multi-read technique to get well below 3e-, astonishing for a 2.8µm global shutter pixel!
To achieve these premium performances with the world smallest global shutter pixel we had to find new ways to innovate in sensor architecture and feature implementation.
To communicate on these innovations came from our desire to demonstrate how far we had gone to serve the industry next challenges.
You look at new architectures, how can this work help the industry to move forward in the coming years?
To be concrete with an example, our new sensor architecture marks a significant improvement of Dark Signal Non Uniformity (DSNU), which is more than 10 times improved when compared to previous CMOS products. This enables cameras to perform better in high temperature environments and enable long exposures to be used in low-light applications such as microscopes or outdoor cameras for surveillance, speed or traffic applications.
What can the attendees look to gain by hearing your presentation at the conference?
These sensor performances can only be achieved with a new pixel architecture. One part of my presentation will focus on the operation, strength and drawback of this new pixel. Furthermore, new digital functions are embedded on the Emerald sensor family that will be explained in detail during my talk.
