From medical devices to mobile phone cameras to military targeting systems, image sensors support a diverse range of imaging applications. Each application carries its own set of challenges and complexities for product development engineers, who must configure the image sensor to deliver the optimal combination of image qualities, often having to trade off one image quality for another.
Fortunately, the time required to complete each of the tasks in this process is being shortened through integration between the sensor configuration software offered by major vendors (e.g., Toshiba, Aptina, OmniVision, STMicroelectronics) and image quality testing software offered by Imatest, a leading vendor of image quality testing software. The integrated software systems enable rapid testing of sensor image quality and subsequent re-configuration of image sensor settings, dramatically speeding the overall process.
This workshop will focus on both halves of the configuration-and-test process, showing how image sensors can be configured through the use of bespoke software programmes and how image quality factors (sharpness, color-accuracy, distortion, etc.) can be analyzed using specialist in order to inform the correct configuring of image sensors.
Summary of content:
- Detailed discussion of image sensor configuration capabilities
- Configuring an image sensor
- Detailed explanation of image quality factors
- Applying measuring image quality
- Creating efficient and effective feedback from quality assessment to configuration
Participants of the workshop will gain understanding of the image sensor configuration process, they will also understand how image quality is measured and how the latest technology can be used to analyze image quality. The workshop is appropriate for engineers responsible for image sensor configuration and image quality evaluation.
