    Bharanidhar Duraisamy has started as a M.Sc. Robotics and Automation student with Daimler AG’s research and development department. After completion of his Doctoral tenure in the area of automotive multi-level sensor fusion based on several active and passive environment perception sensors, multi-sensor data association designed for state estimation and signal processing designed for automotive intelligent vehicular applications. At present he is working as a research and development engineer focused on target tracking and fusion activities in the team specializes in various level of signal processing work related to automotive Radar.

  • Mehdi Asghari

    Founder and CEO SiLC Technologies

    An accomplished and successful serial entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in the silicon photonics sector, Mehdi Asghari is the founder and CEO of SiLC Technologies, Mehdi’s third silicon photonics company. Previously, Mehdi was the VP of Silicon Photonics at Mellanox Technologies, where he was responsible for all silicon photonics technology and product development. Before that, he was the CTO at Kotura Inc., where he also led technology and product development. Prior to Kotura, Mehdi was the VP of research and development at Bookham Inc, overseeing R&D and manufacturing transfer activities behind all of Bookham's silicon-based technologies and products.  Mehdi has authored and co-authored over 150 journal and conference publications and holds more than 40 active patents within the fields of silicon photonics and optoelectronics.

    Mehdi is a graduate of Cambridge University and holds a Masters in Optoelectronics from Heriot-Watt and St. Andrews Universities, with a Ph.D. in III/V Integrated Photonics from the University of Bath, UK.

  • Dr Florian Baumann

    CTO EMEA (Specializing in Automotive & AI), Dell EMC

    Dr Florian Baumann is the CTO for the Unstructured Data Solutions (UDS) division specializing in Automotive & AI at Dell EMC. Lastly, he worked as the Technical Director of ADASENS Automotive GmbH, a FICOSA brand, focused on ADAS development. He was in charge of delivering and creating the company's products and targets. Florian received his PhD in 2015 with the focus of Machine Learning applied to Scene Understanding and published about 20 publications.

  • Antonio Garzón

    Senior Analyst, Automotive Electronics & Semiconductor IHS Markit Technology

    Antonio Garzón is a senior automotive semiconductor analyst at IHS Markit with a special focus on infotainment, body electronics and ADAS. He has worked in the infotainment departments of Seat, Aston Martin and BMW and as a test development engineer at NXP. Previously, he did research on artificial intelligence for Bosch, Sony, Telefónica and Fraunhofer.

    Antonio is a Telecommunications Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and holds a Master of Science in Information Technology from the University of Stuttgart. He speaks English, German and Spanish. 

  • Paul Gong

    China Auto Analyst UBS

    Paul Gong is the China auto analyst at UBS. At UBS, Paul led the China auto research team, worked closely with UBS global analysts, and published various research reports on electric vehicles, EV batteries and autonomous vehicles. Paul is consistently a ranked analyst in Institutional Investors All-Asia voting. Before joining UBS, Paul worked as research analyst at Citi and Nomura, and as auditor at Deloitte. Paul studied in The University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University, and earned bachelor/master's degrees on computational physics at HKU. 

  • Anand Gopalan

    Chief Technology Officer Velodyne LiDAR, Inc.

    Anand Gopalan is Velodyne LiDAR's Chief Technology Officer. In this capacity he is responsible for the advanced product development and technology development that will power Velodyne's next generation LIDAR products.

    Anand is a seasoned technology executive with experience building and leading world-wide engineering organizations for the development of products in consumer, networking and enterprise domains. He has grown and managed organizations through deep and dynamic business model transitions and successfully delivered on a wide array of high-speed mixed signal, optical and RF products.

    Anand comes to Velodyne from Rambus where he was the VP of Engineering responsible for all chip and IP development activities for the Memory and Interfaced Division. In that capacity he was responsible for a global engineering team spread across multiple locations in North America and India that developed a variety of IP and products for Tier 1 ASIC and OEM customers. Prior to Rambus Anand spear-headed world-wide analog/Mixed signal design at Megachips Inc.

    Anand holds a BE degree in Electronics from Mumbai University as well as MS and PhD from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Electrical engineering and Microsystems engineering.

  • Junli Gu

    VP of Autonomous Driving XMotors.ai

    Junli joined XMotors.ai in October 2017 and currently serves as VP of autonomous driving department. One of her main focus areas is leading the effort to build the self-driving solutions on XMotors’ massive production of electric vehicles. (Also known as XPeng EV cars in China.)

    Before joining XMotors, Junli was the senior staff machine learning engineer in Tesla and she built and led the machine learning team to create the AI roadmap, innovate the algorithms and implement the technology for Tesla Autopilot 2.0 project.

    Junli Holds a Ph.D of Electronics Engineering from Tsinghua University and also the research scholar in University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

  • Professor Fumio Koyama

    Director, Institute of Innovative Research Tokyo Institute of Technology

    Fumio Koyama received the Ph.D. degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1985. He is the director-general (dean), Institute of Innovative Research, Tokyo Institute of Technology.  His research interest includes VCSEL photonics, photonic integrated devices, 3D optical sensing and LiDAR. He has authored or co-authored more than 1,000 journal and conference papers. He received various awards, including IEE Electronics Letters Premium in 1985 and 1988, IEEE/LEOS William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award in 2008, Okawa Award in 2018 and Nick Holonyak, Jr. Award in 2019.  He is Fellow of IEEE, IEICE and JSAP.  Fumio Koyama realized the first room temperature cw operation of VCSELs in 1988. He has spent much effort on improving and creating new functions for VCSELs for over 30 years. He proposed the creation of a new platform that laterally integrated VCSELs and optical functional devices. This allowed for the creation of a variety of new functions including high-speed modulators, coupled resonators for high-speed direct modulation, high-resolution beam scanners, high-power and high-beam quality VCSELs, and spatial light switches.

  • Tim LeBeau

    As one of the first employees at Seek Thermal, Tim leads all of the commercial activities. He oversees all aspects of corporate strategy, marketing, product, and sales for the company’s consumer and OEM businesses that command a dominant position in the global market. Early on in his career, Tim worked for Bosch, SharkNinja, Stanley Black and Decker, Harman (acquired by Samsung) Beats by Dr. Dre (acquired by Apple).

    Tim is a sought after futurist that speaks on technology trends in the global IoT and connected car markets. He has also spoken at top universities such as Harvard, MIT, and the Yale School of Management’s Center for Consumer Insights. Tim graduated from Eastern Illinois University and holds an MBA from DePaul University’s Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.

  • Yigang Li

    Dr. Yigang Li received a Bachelor degree in physics and Ph.D. degree in optics from Fudan University in 1999 and in 2005, respectively. After that, he worked as a Lecturer with the Department of Optical Science and Engineering at Fuduan University and then an Assistant Researcher at Department of Materials Engineering / ICEMS, Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. He joined SCHOTT from 2012 and currently is working as Manager, Optical Industry & Home Tech.

    After graduating from Waseda University, Zhen started his career at SONY Japan in 2011 as an LSI designer, mainly focus on the development of Image Signal Processing(ISP) chip. Since 2016, he has been assigned as the technical support leader of automotive image sensor and ISP. In Spring 2019 Zhen relocated to ShenZhen and he is now leading the technical support and product planning for china customer.

  • Mark Liu

    Mark Liu, Industry Analyst in the Global Automotive Practice, has five years of experience in market research, planning and project management. Prior to joining Strategy Analytics, Mark was the Head of Marketing and Operation for the GeekCar media platform in China, where he served as a key member of the management team.

  • Ignazio Piacentini

    Ignazio has a B.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering (Milan, Italy, 1975) and a M.Sc. degree in Digital Systems and Instrumentation (Polytechnic of Central London, UK, 1987). Before joining the machine vision industry in the early ‘90’s, he has spent many years working for the European Commission (Euratom) designing control and data acquisition systems for large-scale thermonuclear fusion experimental projects, including a long spell at the JET Joint Undertaking (Culham Labs, UK).

    Before relocating to Germany, he directed ImagingLab Srl, in Lodi, Italy, an engineering/consulting company specialized in machine vision and advanced robotics. He also held the position of Business Development Manager Europe for imaging and motion of National Instruments Austin, TX/USA from 1999 to 2003. During this time, he also served two 3-year mandates as a member of the Board of Directors of EMVA (European Machine Vision Association).

    Ignazio Piacentini took up the position of Director of Business Development at ficonTEC in August 2015, after previously heading up the Photonics Devices Assembly Business Unit at PI miCos GmbH (Physik Instrumente Group).

    Abhay Rai is VP Product Marketing at Visteon. He was previously Head of Automotive Sensor Marketing, working at the Automotive Innovation center of Sony Electronics San Jose CA.

    Abhay has extensive experience in automotive sensing and systems. Abhay started his career as analog design architect, designing low power, low noise human interface sensors that touch millions of hands every day. Abhay has worked in 5 different countries and managed many design and system teams.

    Abhay received MSEE from Colorado State University and Executive MBA from University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of business.
