Jed shares his thoughts ahead of his presentation "An Outsider's Inside View of CMOS Imaging" at the March 2015 conference...
"I was fortunate enough to get involved with imaging in 1995 when I
joined Vision/VVL, the team of the late Prof Peter Denyer, when CMOS imaging was deemed barely good enough to make it into a toy, but it did and it grew, and those involved in it could see its potential to improve it and open up new markets. We made it into webcams, then into Digital Still Cameras, then into Mobile (in our case after being acquired by ST Microelectronics) and it's been a rollercoaster ever since.
In 2005, 10 years later, I stepped out to pursue new disciplines and opportunities, as much as anything to prove there is some life outside of the imaging community! However part of my heart will always remain inside, and I've been fortunate as a 'partial' outsider to track what has been achieved in the last 10 years.
I'm delighted to be invited to give the closing keynote speech at Image Sensors in March. I look forward to sharing some of my memories, experiences and thoughts on how a previous insider, views, as an outsider, what has, is and may happen in digital imaging."
